Guide
Collect photos, voice notes, and stories
The hardest part is not technology — it is asking people to share while grief is fresh. A memorial page gives you one link and a moderation queue so nothing goes public until you are ready.
Start with what you already have
Upload a cover photograph, a portrait if you have one, and two or three stories only you can tell. That makes the page feel alive before you invite anyone else.
Voice notes work well for relatives who do not want to write. A thirty-second memory on a phone often captures tone better than a polished essay.
Invite contributors gently
Share the link in the family chat with a short note: what the page is for, that you will review submissions, and that small moments are welcome — not only formal obituaries.
If someone sends material privately, you can add it yourself as steward rather than forcing them to use the form.
Order and years on the timeline
When contributors remember a year — first job, a holiday, a wedding — add it to the timeline entry so the life reads in order, not only by date posted.
Common questions
- Can I import Facebook photos?
- Family admins can import Meta’s official data download (a zip from Facebook’s export tool). We do not scrape Facebook profiles.
- What file types work?
- Photographs and common audio and video formats supported by your browser upload flow. Very large files may take longer on slow connections.
- Can I remove a tribute later?
- The family steward can moderate and remove approved content from the dashboard.
